Football is one of the most followed sports in the world. From club football to formal state and national teams all have a huge following as it generates so much excitement and enthusiasm since time immemorial.
The interest and participation in football at the grassroot level needs to be supported else children will have no proper guidance and direction to progress on. This is even more critical with the advent of ladies or girls’ football which is on the rise.
Football need not be an expensive sport as back in the good old days any object would be considered a ball and youngsters compete to bring it to goal. Similarly, in modern times although the sophistication of football has dawned upon us but encouraging participation could be made very assessible with some creative steps.
This brings us to our very own Harimau Bestari Football launched in 2023 is part of the Centre of Sports Excellence Program launched by our 2-time Olympian and former athlete Nordin Mohd Jadi in 2019. The football program has seen very active participation by primary and secondary students with training, match practices and tournaments carried out throughout the year.Â
The success of this year’s football program has received the clarion call to set-up a formal Football Academy at the school is being actively pursued. Plans for a yearlong structured program with weekend and holiday camps together with excursions to experience the football culture abroad are all part of the plans for the Football Academy we so desire.
